A rare moment
This morning I had a rare special breakfast with Mr. Amazing. Most days are so crazy we forget to eat, realizing as we lock The Bakery doors for the day just how hungry we are. That’s the funny thing about running a small business, you somehow never have any of the things you spend your days creating for yourself. Like the contractor who has at least one room in his house unfinished, the housekeeper with a sink full of dirty dishes and unmopped floor, or the message therapist with a nagging knot in her back, there never seems to be enough time.
When I woke this Monday morning and found my schedule slow and Mr. Amazing working from home, I decided to seize it. After rummaging through the pantries and coolers, I realized I had just enough eggs to make the idea that’s been rattling around in my head for months. So I started Mr. Amazing’s favorite bacon and grabbed a stack of saucepans and mixing bowls.
As odd as it was to be making a souffle on a random Monday morning, I think life should be about enjoying small moments where you can find them. And I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to sit down with the love of my life and enjoy another of life’s simple pleasures.
The french toast souffle about to be dressed with cinnamon creme anglaise and maple syrup infused with peach and bourbon.
I hope you’re finding moments to savor life’s goodness, whenever they might come.
